Angela Bassett Becomes First Oscar Nominated Actress for a Marvel Film
Earlier this month, Marvel celebrated an exciting first, with a particular Golden Globes win. Now, the Studios are celebrating another feat, as Angela Bassett becomes the first actress to be nominated for an Oscar for a Marvel film.

Angela Bassett plays Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, a sequel to the original Black Panther. Recently, she celebrated her second win at the Golden Globes.

Previously, she won best actress in a musical or comedy for the 1993 Tina Turner biopic, What’s Love Got to Do With It. This year, she won the Golden Globe for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
In an inspiring acceptance speech, she shared, “The late Tony Morrison said that your life is already a miracle of chance just waiting for you to order its destiny. But in order for that destiny to manifest, I think that it requires courage to have faith.”
