Everything We Know About Tiana’s Bayou Adventure (So Far) at Disney Parks
Now that Splash Mountain has closed in Disney World, many people are wondering what’s next for the classic Disney ride.
You may already know that Splash Mountain will be reimagined into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, with a new theme based on the Disney animated film, The Princess and the Frog. With plans officially underway, we thought it would be a good time to go over everything we know about Tiana’s Bayou Adventure so far!
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Overview
Both Disneyland Park’s and Magic Kingdom’s Splash Mountains will be reimagined into Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, which will feature a brand new story inspired by New Orleans and The Princess and the Frog.
The reimagining of Splash Mountain was announced back in 2020, but we did not much more about the new attraction until 2022.
Disney Imagineers actually traveled to Louisiana to do extensive research in order to tell an authentic story, and the ride will pick up right after the events of The Princess and the Frog, where Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen, Louis the alligator, and many other characters will take guests through the bayou to a Mardi Gras celebration.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure Story
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will transport riders to an evening in the Louisiana bayou, where they’ll encounter a variety of characters from The Princess and the Frog.
As riders drop into the bayou, they’ll see fireflies lighting up the night alongside a soundtrack of zydeco music, which is a blend of rhythm and blues music created and developed in Louisiana.
Riders will get to see Louis the alligator explain more about the music, and they’ll also meet some new animal friends who happen to be in a band — complete with instruments made from items found in the bayou.
Because a ballgown isn’t exactly practical for the Louisiana bayou, Tiana will be wearing a new look inspired by 1920s fashion trends, and her outfit and hair are historically accurate for the time period.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is expected to open in both Disneyland and Disney World in 2024, but Splash Mountain is still currently open in its original form in Disneyland.
We’ll be watching closely for updates from Disney about Splash Mountain’s closure date in Disneyland.
