‘TRON: Ares’ Gains Momentum as Disney Takes Next Steps
Fans have been patiently waiting for news about a highly anticipated sequel. TRON: Ares is gaining momentum, as Disney takes the next steps!
TRON: Ares
Fans have been excited about a third installment to the TRON franchise for a long time. At first, it was uncertain that we’d get another movie.
The news was dicey, with the project seemingly and off again multiple times. Then, there was silence.
Now, Deadline reports that Disney is in negotiations with Joachim Rønning, to direct the film! As reported before, Jared Leto has already been confirmed for the movie.
Reportedly, an August start date is being considered, with filming commencing in Vancouver. The timing is interesting as Disney World just released the opening date of TRON Lightcycle / Run in Magic Kingdom! (April 4, 2023)
Although Joachim Rønning hasn’t been confirmed yet, the director has worked with Disney before. In fact, it would be his fourth collaboration with the company!
Previously, he directed Maleficent: Mistress of Evil, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, and just wrapped Young Woman and the Sea.
TRON
A sci-fi action adventure, the TRON franchise originated with the 1982 film, starring Jeff Bridges. Set inside a computer program, the Grid, it takes viewers into a fantastically imaginative world!
TRON: Legacy followed years later, in 2010, with Bridges reprising his role. Although it’s considered a cult classic, Disney has been inconsistent when it comes to the franchise’s future.
In 2017, fans learned about the possibility of Leto’s involvement. Disney enthusiasts are also excited about Leto’s role in the upcoming Haunted Mansion film.
He’ll be playing the popular Hat-Box Ghost seen on the ride at Disneyland. The movie is expected to premiere in August of this year.
I don’t know about you, but I am so excited to hear that TRON: Ares is finally gaining some momentum. Like other fans, I’ve been waiting for a long time, and hope Disney continues to take more steps on the project!
