Magical Guide to the Disney100 Celebration at Disneyland Resort
2023 marks the 100th anniversary of The Walt Disney Company, and Disneyland Resort is kicking off the celebration beginning on January 27th, 2023.
This celebration will include all kinds of new entertainment, special food, merchandise, and lots more, so let’s go over some of the exciting new additions coming soon to Disneyland Resort!
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway is scheduled to open in Disneyland Park’s Toontown on January 27th, and the newly opened ride will be utilizing a virtual queue, with no standby line available for the time being. Guests will be able to enroll in the virtual queue at either 7AM or 1PM via the Disneyland app.
An Individual Lightning Lane will also be available for purchase.
World of Color – ONE
World of Color — ONE will celebrate Walt Disney’s legacy, and it will also be the first Disneyland nighttime show to feature elements from Walt Disney Animation Studios, Pixar Animation Studios, the Avengers, and Star Wars.
This show will be featured nightly in Disney California Adventure.
World for Color — ONE will be available via a virtual queue system in the Disneyland app, and it will open daily (while availability lasts) at 12PM. Walk-up viewing will be limited and only available on a first-come, first-served basis.
Wondrous Journeys
Wondrous Journeys will transform Sleeping Beauty Castle, Main Street, U.S.A., “it’s a small world,” and the Rivers of America with all kinds of projections, lighting effects, and more.
On select nights, Wondrous Journeys will also include fireworks!
Whether you decide to watch World of Color — ONE or Wondrous Journeys (or both!), you can wear your MagicBand+ and enjoy a variety of responses synced to the shows.
Decor, Food, and Merchandise
Throughout the Disney100 celebration, visiting guests will be able to enjoy “platinum-infused decor” throughout all of Disneyland Resort, including both theme parks as well as Downtown Disney and the Disneyland hotels.
Sleeping Beauty Castle will feature two new water fountains, platinum banners and bunting, a cabochon, and a wishing star, and Mickey and his pals will also be outfitted in special platinum costumes.
LOTS of new and special food will also be available throughout the Disney100 celebration, like this Platinum Trifle coming to Pacific Wharf Cafe or this Potato & Cheddar Cheeseburger coming to Hungry Bear Restaurant.
We’ve also already seen some Disney100 merchandise in Disney Parks and online, and there will be plenty of items to take home to forever remember this special milestone.
Make sure you check back with MickeyBlog as we find more and more Disney100 merchandise!
The Disney Gallery Presents: Disney 100 Years of Wonder
If you visit The Disney Gallery on Main Street, U.S.A. in Disneyland Park, you’ll find a new exhibit celebrating the history of Walt Disney and his vision for Disneyland, with Disney animators’ artwork on display.
This exhibit will include an animator’s desk, a model of a multi-plane camera, and lots more.
Magic Happens Parade
The Magic Happens parade will return to Disneyland Park on February 24th. This parade will take place during the daytime, led by Sorcerer Mickey!
Mickey’s Toontown
And finally, Mickey’s Toontown will officially reopen on March 8th. As we noted above, Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will be located in Toontown, but the new ride will open just ahead of the rest of the land.
