Geoff Morrell Made $119,505 A Day While Working At Disney in 2022
2022 was truly a chaotic year at the Walt Disney Company. The year began with a series of public relations disasters, continued with the ousting of CEO Bob Chapek and the return of Bob Iger, and ended with the company facing a looming proxy war.
As part of the upcoming battle over Nelson Pultz’s attempt to gain a seat on the Disney board, the company released a proxy filing, which has given us further insight into the chaotic year at the company.

One of the most interesting findings, was the compensation many high level Disney executives received during the turbulent year. Yesterday, we brought you reports on Bob Iger and Bob Chapek, but now we are turning our attention to an executive who only worked for the Walt Disney Company for four months.
Disney’s Top Earner Per Day
Geoff Morrell started working at Disney on January 24, 2022 as the company’s chief corporate-affairs officer. Four months later, after Disney’s public relations disasters following the passage of the Florida Parental Rights in Education Act, Mr. Morrell left the Walt Disney Company.

Despite his short and rocky tenure at Disney, Mr. Morrell made roughly $119,505 a day for his work at the mouse house.
In their recently released proxy statement, Disney notes that Morrell’s compensation for 2022 was roughly $8.37 million. This total included a relocation and signing bonus.
In addition to this, Disney revealed that Mr. Morrell received cash severance payments totaling $4 million. This payment included his base salary and target bonus for 2022.
When factoring in his termination agreement, Mr. Morrell made $176,746 a day while working at Disney.
A Social Media Blunder
Fans of the Disney Parks will best remember Geoff Morrell’s tenure at Disney not for his work in corporate affairs, but for the time he accidentally revealed the opening date of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind. Although the veteran executive quickly deleted his tweet, the cat was out of the bag.

In the end, Mr. Morrell gracefully exited the Walt Disney Company after only four months. He told his staff in an email, “It has become clear to me that for a number of reasons it is not the right fit. I have decided to leave the company to pursue other opportunities.”
While the fit may not have been right, in the end it was a prosperous one for Mr. Morrell.
