A Pair of Fun and Fancy Free Pins Has Been Released!
While everybody has been hyper-focused on Walt Disney World’s 50th Anniversary and the upcoming Disney100 celebration, we have let another massive milestone go by unnoticed.
The Disney package film Fun and Fancy Free is celebrated its 75th anniversary last year!
A Forgotten Classic
For those of you who don’t known, Fun and Fancy Free was a 1947 feature film. Unlike other releases however, the film was made up of two shorter segments.
The first segment in the film was called Bongo and told the story of a circus bear cub, who ran away from the circus to rejoin the wild.
The second, better remembered segment, was Mickey and the Beanstalk. In this adaptation of Jack and the Beanstalk, Mickey, Donald, and Goofy come face to face with Willie the Giant in his castle in the sky.
While Fun and Fancy Free has largely been overshadowed by classic Disney films that both preceded and followed it, the movie a ton of fun!
Bongo 75 Anniversary Pin
When visiting the Frontier Trading Post today, we came upon two new arrivals. Both pins are celebrating Fun and Fancy Free’s anniversary!
The first pin in this new set features Bongo himself! The young bear job sits atop his unicycle, wearing his circus outfit!
Next to him, a large poster advertises the Fun and Fancy Free’s 75th anniversary and even features another miniature Bongo lifting a dumbbell. When you open up that poster- its Lulubelle!
Its really great to see Bongo featured on any Disney merchandise, and this design is specifically great!
Golden Harp Pin
The second Fun and Fancy Free 75th Anniversary is based on the film’s other feature- Mickey and the Beanstalk.
Interestingly, it is not Willie the Giant or Mickey who represents the film, but instead the short’s Golden Harp!
The front of the pin features the Golden Heart seemingly locked up inside another box. Unlike the film, this chest is celebrating Fun and Fancy Free’s 75th anniversary!
When you open the pin however, you are in for a fun surprise. The pin opens to reveal Mickey and Donald in their Fun and Fancy Free costumes. The duo is even holding the key that saved the Golden Harp in the film!
Where to Get It
If you are a pin collector, or especially a Fun and Fancy Free fan, you are going to want to check out these pins. They are both limited edition releases, but available behind the counter at the Frontier Trading Post today! So next time you visit the Magic Kingdom, be sure to stop by!
