What Will Disney Be Like in June 2023?
Let’s be honest. The odds are good that you’re planning a Disney vacation this summer. It’s what Disney fans do during summer break!
What will Disney be like in June 2023? Here’s what you need to know about your next glorious Disney vacation.
Let’s Talk about June Visits
Let’s start with the obvious. You will LOVE your June vacation. After all, everyone else does. That’s why so many people choose this trip!
Think about the situation from this perspective. People could go anywhere during summer break.
Somehow, Walt Disney World perennially ranks as the most popular theme park in the world thanks in large part to summer attendance.
So, you should understand the crowds will pick up a bit in June. Thankfully, many schools remain in session until mid-June these days.
If you’re able to visit earlier in the month, you’ll sometimes encounter smaller crowds than you’d face toward the end of June.
That’s especially true during the final few days of the month. It’ll include the combination of almost all schools being on break plus early arrivals for July 4th.
Still, the reality is that families don’t always have leverage about when they can visit. You’re stuck with whatever school schedule your children have.
Honestly, you probably won’t care, though. I say this because June 2023 represents one of the best times to visit Disney in ages.
The fabulous Tron Lightcycle Power Run roller coaster has opened recently!
Based on reviews, this attraction has been a huge hit with Disney fans.
Tron now competes with Seven Dwarfs Mine Train for the best roller coaster at Magic Kingdom.
In fact, I’ll go a step further and say it battles Expedition Everest for the best coaster in Orlando.
Let’s Talk about the Weather
Okay, let’s be real. Central Florida has gotten hotter over the past decade.
You may feel the heat, depending on the date of your visit. Florida gets hotter as it gets deeper into June.
Overall, the average high temperature for the month ranges from 83 to 94 degrees. You should expect a high of 89 on the average June day.
Meanwhile, average low temperatures range from 68 to 77 degrees. The average is 77 degrees. You can safely plan for a low of 75 degrees.
So, that’s the daily range: 75 to 89 degrees. Many people in the south are used to those temperatures.
However, if you’re traveling from the north or Canada, you should realize that humidity starts at 78 percent and then reaches 98 percent by the end of June.
That’s not me talking; it’s Weatherspark. And I’m here to tell you as a lifetime southerner that 98 percent humidity can hit you hard if you’re not used to it.
As such, I strongly recommend that you pack stuff that can keep you cool. You might even consider a neck fan just in case.
Thankfully, Walt Disney World offers more indoor attractions than any other theme park in existence.
For this reason, you can avoid the heat quite easily. The weather will make swimming at the pool that much better, too!
Let’s Talk about Disney Events in June
The main event at Disney during early summer will be the 2023 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.
While Food & Wine garners more headlines and possesses stronger name recognition, Flower & Garden is actually Disney’s oldest festival.
During this event, you can enjoy unique food and beverage options at the various Food Kitchens.
Meanwhile, the visuals at Flower & Garden will blow your mind if you’ve never seen them previously.
Disney crafts shrubberies into dazzling recreations of famous Disney characters and even a few scenes.
You may not expect a bush to look like Lightning McQueen, but it definitely can!
Similarly, you’ll never look at Fantasia the same way again once you’ve seen it in shrub form.
Flower & Garden’s one of the best events on the annual Disney calendar. It’s so good that I haven’t even mentioned the Garden Rocks concert series yet!
As part of your park admission ticket, you can watch live musical performances from some of your favorite recording artists of the past 40 years!
Let’s Talk about Central Florida Events in June
Realistically, most of the entertainment options in Central Florida during the summer involve theme parks for the most part.
The two local professional sports teams, the Orlando Magic and Orlando City SC, don’t play much in June.
In 2022, the soccer team had two home games, both of which occurred during the second half of the month. You can expect something in 2023.
Broadway fans similarly enjoy limited options. Starting on June 27th, you can watch Beetlejuice: The Musical, which I swear is a real thing.
You’ll find this show at Walt Disney Theater at Dr. Phillips Center.
In terms of concerts, the only significant confirmation thus far is the return of the Forbidden Kingdom Music Festival.
Only headbangers need apply to this event. If that’s you, the two-day event occurs on June 9th and 10th.
As your travel date approaches, you should check the schedule. Several Orlando hotspots at Disney Springs and even Universal CityWalk Orlando will have live bands.
Many of these performances feature recognizable stars. However, you can avoid the overhead by prioritizing the Garden Rocks concert series instead.
Final Thoughts
We know that June is an ideal time to visit the parks because so many people do it.
Also, we have more reason for optimism about pricing and park policies due to the recent return of Disney CEO Bob Iger.
For this reason, you can safely expect a June 2023 visit to remind you of your fondest Disney vacation memories.
I mean the ones from before Bob Chapek became CEO and tried to ruin everything. With Iger back, Disney is back to making magic at its parks again!
