The future is looking bright from James Cameron’s Avatar franchise. The news is coming in that Avatar: The Way of Water has just exceeded $1.5B globally with yesterday’s (January 4, 2023) figures. The current running worldwide total is $1,516.5M which means the film has surpassed Top Gun: Maverick has the No. 1 worldwide release of 2022. In addition Avatar: The Way of Water is now the 10th biggest film EVER globally.
Today it is expected that Avatar: The Way of Water will claim the No. 9 spot on the the all-time global chart!

According to a recent piece in DEADLINE, Avatar: The Way of Water is the 9th biggest movie ever at the global box office and also has the distinction of being the highest release in Europe of the pandemic era (surpassing Spider-Man: No Way Home.)
Yesterday, on Wednesday alone, the film earned $26.4 million across 52 overseas markets.
