Will These Disney Attractions Open in 2023?
Folks, 2023 is here! You can look at the calendar if you don’t believe me!
We’ve rung in the New Year, and it’s time to look forward to what’s next.
Will these Disney attractions and amenities debut in 2023? Here’s what we know.
Adventureland Treehouse
The Swiss Family Treehouse at Disneyland Park didn’t last forever. Instead, this interactive treetop playground switched to a new theme.

The updated version, Tarzan’s Treehouse arrived in 1999, as part of a themed tie-in with Disney’s animated movie, Tarzan.
Obviously, this iteration of the treetop funhouse wasn’t going to be in our hearts forever.

Frankly, the Tarzan version lasted longer than Disney had expected.
Therefore, nobody was surprised when park officials announced a re-theme in 2022.
At some point in 2023, probably sooner rather than later, the Adventure Treehouse will debut. And its theme will be…Swiss Family Robinson.

Everything old is new again at Disneyland in 2023!
Haunted Mansion’s New Guest
Speaking of Disneyland, that park claims something that Magic Kingdom never has.

One of the Happy Haunts in California has never traveled east to Orlando…until now.
Yes, Disney has promised that Magic Kingdom will welcome a new and permanent visitor to the Haunted Mansion.
The Hatbox Ghost is coming to Magic Kingdom for the first time ever! I don’t think he has booked a mystical flight with a precise itinerary yet, though.
As such, all we know for sure is that the Hatbox Ghost will arrive in 2023.

Journey of Water | Inspired by Moana
If you’ve followed MickeyBlog recently, you know that our park experts are all over this one.
Our site is posting updated photos of the Moana construction at least once a week. We even had the first pictures of Te Fiti!
Disney cannot hide the construction here, as you’ll smell it when you see it. Seriously, the digging has unearthed some swampland that smells like evil.
Thankfully, that’ll go away once everything is in place for the attraction’s opening. And yes, that should happen during the second half of 2023!
Mickey and Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Here’s the attraction that will debut the soonest. In fact, it’s mere days away from happening as we speak!
The Disneyland version of Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway will open to the public on January 27th, 2023.
As such, park officials are using the new ride as the highlight of the upcoming Disney100 celebration. It also starts on January 27th.
Something to keep in mind about Runaway Railway is that Disneyland doesn’t feature quite as much space as Disney’s Hollywood Studios.

That’s actually a good thing here, as the lack of space forced Imagineers to modify the track layout.
For this reason, Disneyland is getting a new and different version of an excellent ride!
The New Mickey’s Toontown
Notably, Runaway Railway opens before the new Mickey’s Toontown. That’s fascinating since the ride resides in that themed land.
Nobody’s quite sure how entry to Runaway Railway will work until Mickey’s Toontown officially reopens.

Still, we know that’ll only remain a problem for five weeks or so. Mickey’s Toontown returns on March 8th, 2023.
Pixar Pier Hotel
Technically, Disney hasn’t confirmed the name of the re-themed hotel.

However, we know that it used to be called Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel. Now, it’s receiving Pixar theming to match Pixar Pier. As such, the name fits.
Disney hasn’t provided a firm timeline here. Still, the hotel remains operational as we speak.

As such, we can expect the gradual evolution into Pixar Pier Hotel to occur throughout 2023.
The Thanos Who Won
During the most recent D23, Disney California Adventure confirmed this new E-ticket attraction coming to Avengers Campus.

That makes the King Thanos ride the only legitimately confirmed new ride announced during the Parks panel last September.
Still, we’re not even sure Disney will break ground on this project in 2023. It definitely won’t open within the next 12 months.

Tiana’s Bayou Adventure
Here’s the other huge topic of conversation during that Parks panel.
Guests at D23 studied scale models of the former Splash Mountain area. Imagineers showed how the upcoming Tiana’s Bayou Adventure will look.

However, we won’t get the new ride until 2024. Meanwhile, Splash Mountain will close permanently on January 23rd, 2023.
Well, the ride will close at Magic Kingdom. Disneyland’s version will remain in operation for a while longer.

You’re running out of time to experience Splash Mountain, though. And the replacement won’t arrive for at least a year.
So, we’ll feel the void during 2023.

Tron Lightcycle Power Run
Folks, you can stop asking us about this one. Disney has confirmed that it’s holding Tron Lightcycle Power Run until Spring 2023.
Based on recent history, that means it’ll either debut in March or around Memorial Day.

Disney apparently waited to open this dazzling roller coaster to provide more incentive for guests to visit next summer.
Since we just talked about Splash Mountain being closed, this strategy makes sense. We all would have loved to ride it in 2022, though.

The Villas at Disneyland Hotel
For the first time in its storied history, the Disneyland Hotel will add an exclusive expansion tower.
Yes, the resort already features several towers, but this one’s different.
Imagineers are building an entire Disney Vacation Club hotel on the Disneyland Hotel campus. It’ll accentuate the magic that’s already there.
Even better, this facility will dramatically expand the number of official Disney hotel rooms at Disneyland Resort.
That’s a long-overdue change. Remember this nonsense with the Anaheim City Council?
Wondrous Journeys and World of Color – One
Disney100 will include other attractions beyond Runaway Railway.

Specifically, Disneyland Resort will host two unique nighttime presentations as part of Disney’s centennial celebration.
Wondrous Journeys will occur at Disneyland Park, while the modified World of Color – One will light up the night at Disney California Adventure.

The upcoming World of Color update includes a new song, Start a Wave, while Wondrous Journeys will pay tribute to every Disney animated movie to date!
In short, Disney fans have plenty of reason for excitement as we enter 2023!
