Heard shared via Instagram earlier today, “After a great deal of deliberation, I have made a very difficult decision to settle the defamation case brought against me by my ex-husband in Virginia.”

Heard has agreed to pay the 7 figure amount to put an end to the courtroom saga and move forward.
“It’s important for me to say that I never chose this. I defended my truth and in doing so my life as I knew it was destroyed,” the statement says. “The vilification I have faced on social media is an amplified version of the ways in which women are re-victimized when they come forward. Now I finally have an opportunity to emancipate myself from something I attempted to leave over six years ago and on terms I can agree to.”

According to an article by Fox News, Heard shared that the deal imposes no restrictions on her ability to talk about the case or the disintegration of her marriage. She added that this was not an act of admission or concession.
“I have made no admission, this is not an act of concession,” she shared on her personal Instagram page. “There are no restrictions or gags with respect to my voice moving forward.”

The nationally televised Virginia courtroom engrossed fans around the world and finally concluded this past June. Johnny Depp had won his libel lawsuit against ex-wife Amber Heard and the Fairfax County courtroom ruled in his favor.
Depp was awarded a $15 million judgement against Heard for defaming him over an article accusing him of domestic abuse. Judge Penney Azcarate reduced the sum to $10.35 million.
