When people plan at trip Walt Disney World Resort for the holidays, many hope for a getaway from the chilling winter weather. This year, however, guests need to prepare for perhaps the coldest Christmas in decades.

Thanks to a remarkable arctic snap on the way, many also wonder if central Florida might see more than just snoap but actual snow next weekend along with the freezing cold temperatures.
According to Fox 35 Orlando, the coldest Christmas Day on record in the Orlando area dates back to 1983 when the high temperature crested at 36 degrees. This year certainly has the potential to approach that record.
Local WESH 2 meteorologist Eric Burris also predicts plummeting temperatures for next weekend’s holiday festivities. “Models show wind chills in the teends and 20s … actual temps in the 20s and 30s … ugh,” he tweeted this morning.

As of right now, the forecast remains dry for the region though, so any hopes of that remarkably rare real snow at Walt Disney World may be more of a Christmas wish than a reality.

Temperatures in Orlando fell significantly lower than normal even today. Typically, Orlando normally falls into the 40s at night at least once prior to now though, so this year’s cold blast is a bit delayed, according to local meteorologist Tim Terry in a Tweet this morning.
Of course, MickeyBlog will keep you up-to-date on the arctic snap and its impact on central Florida. For now, here’s hoping that the only snow at Walt Disney World next weekend comes in a globe.
