Playlist Inspired by Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special
In case you missed the epic news, Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is out now on Disney+ and is a hit with fans and critics alike. It currently has a 92% critic and 82% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes. If you’ve yet to see it, definitely make it a party of your holiday plans. Not only is the story fantastic, the cameos brilliant and the humor abundant but, it also features a pretty impressive holiday soundtrack.
With that in mind, and with a little help from our friends at Marvel.com, we’re giving you a rundown of some of the songs you’ll find in The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special. So make those holiday playlists and let’s get rocking around the Christmas tree!

In the special, Mantis and Drax go on a mission to get Peter Quill (Star-Lord) the perfect Christmas present (even if that present is Kevin Bacon!) The special was written and directed by James Gunn and includes a brand new Christmas Song with a bit of help from Kevin Bacon and The Old 97s.
Be on the lookout for the group in the series itself where they play an alien band. Gunn said, “When I was writing the first song in there, ‘I Don’t Know What Christmas Is (But Christmastime Is Here)’, I needed help. I called up Rhett Miller the lead singer of the Old’s, and we got together and wrote that song. At that point, I’m like, well, I’m actually going to make you guys the band in the show.” They have two original songs in the show the second is “Here It is Christmas Time.”
