The Ganachery in Disney Springs Gets Top Honor For EPIC Chocolate Treat
When Thor: Love and Thunder came out in theaters earlier this year, the chocolatiers at The Ganachery came up with a sweet treat to celebrate that was nothing short of EPIC and now it’s receiving top accolades! As we previously announced this week, The Ganachery took home the IAAPA’s Brass Ring Award for Best Menu item for the Chocolate Mighty Thor’s Hammer (pictured below.)
This incredible confection was crated by Amanda Lauder. The goodie was inspired by Thor’s famous hammer Mjölnir and built on the success of The Ganachery’s iconic pinata treats!
”The key piece in making this item is that we needed to figure out how to make a mold of it because it didn’t exist,” remembers Chef Amanda. “So, we actually ordered a small replica of Thor’s mighty hammer online, we casted that in gelatin and then we used stone resin to make a hard stone cast of Thor’s hammer, and that stone cast then went into our mold maker.”
It took several taste tests and tweaks to the process before Thor’s mighty hammer was just perfect. The Ganachery even received creative help from the Marvel team to get the details just right. Once the hammer was cracked open there was a special treat inside- six dark chocolate pieces with infused with Pop Rocks for an extra bang!
4,000 Chocolate Mighty Thor’s Hammers were sold this past July! That makes this award the perfect happy ending for a stroke of culinary genius.
