Strange World Struggles at the Box Office
Disney’s newest animated film Strange World appears to be dead on arrival. The 61st animated feature from Disney grossed $4.2 million dollars on its opening day yesterday, a brutal number for a major Thanksgiving release.
According to box office experts, based on yesterdays totals, Strange World is now looking a five-day opening of $24 to $26 million. This would be the worst total for a Disney animated film that was released on Thanksgiving.

While Disney has traditionally dominated the Thanksgiving box office, expectations and promotion for Strange World have consistently been tepid.
A New Adventure
The new film Strange World tells the story of the legendary Caldes, a family of heroic explorers.
When the entire clan find themselves in the uncharted and treacherous land of Avalonia however, each member of the family must put away their differences and rely on each other.
A Future in Streaming?
While Strange World may end up being a box office bomb, all hope is not lost for Disney. Because of the exposure a theatrical release gives a movie, Disney expects the film to do well on streaming. In fact, the company may expediate the film’s release on Disney +.

While Strange World may be able to recover from its disappointing opening, it is unlikely the film will be able to recoup its estimated $145 to $185 million dollar budget. So far reviews for the film have been lukewarm, so any bounce based on world of mouth may not be coming.
Despite the box office struggles, we will continue to follow the release of Strange World as it unfolds! Be sure to check back soon!’
