How Walt Disney World is Giving Back This Thanksgiving
The holidays are upon us and Disney is sharing some of its favorite traditions. Here’s how Walt Disney World is giving back this Thanksgiving!
Giving Back
Cast Members are gearing up for the annual Thanksgiving meal service at Coalition for the Homeless of Central Florida. Disney’s culinary team has been preparing meals for hundreds of residents for almost 25 years.
President & CEO Allison Krall shares, “We couldn’t do what we do without the help of our community partners like Disney.”
She adds, “We love seeing Disney VoluntEARS at the shelter, and it’s especially uplifting to see the extra magic they bring to our residents on Thanksgiving evening.”
This year, chefs will also be preparing food for residents at Harbor House of Central Florida. The organization assists victims of domestic abuse, offering them hope and safety.
Disney is working with Osceola Council on Aging to provide treats for over 200 seniors displaced by Hurricane Ian. The company has also supported the organization financially, and donated critical resources.
Wendy Ford, President & CEO, shares, “When we had to cancel our annual fundraiser due to Hurricane Ian, Disney stepped in to cover our full fundraising goal.”
She adds. “From monetary support to ensuring displaced seniors have a memorable Thanksgiving meal, we couldn’t be more grateful.”
Disney VoluntEARS are working with Heart of Florida United Way to pack over 4,000 meal kits for residents of various counties.
Disney Parks Blog shares, “the Disney VoluntEARS program plays a huge role in the Disney Cast Life experience, providing opportunities just like this for cast members to make meaningful impacts on our community and inspire optimism and hope for all who call Central Florida home.”
