This Day in Disney History: November 19
Welcome back to another stop on our journey though the history of the Walt Disney Company! Today we are looking at the events on this day in Disney history- November 19.
On this day, we had two new resort openings at Walt Disney World, the premiere of a modern Disney classic and the begging of a Nicholas Cage franchise. Let’s get going!
Babes in the Woods Released (1932)
On this day in 1932, Babes in the Woods was released.
Disney’s third Silly Symphony to be released in color, the new short is loosely based on the story of Hansel and Gretel and the nursery rhyme Babes in the Woods.
In Babes and the Woods, two lost children come upon a village of friendly elves, but quickly come face to face with an evil witch.
Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground Opens (1971)
On this day in 1971, Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort and Campground in opened in Walt Disney World.
At 750 acres, Fort Wilderness is largest resort on Disney property. Featuring a rustic theme, the resort allows guests to stay in cabins or park their recreational vehicles.
Disney’s Beach Club Opens (1990)
On this day in 1990. Disney’s Beach Club Resort opened.
The newest deluxe property at Walt Disney World. the Beach Club is designed to reassemble a luxurious Victorian Cape Cod Resort.
In addition to being one of the most beautiful resorts on Disney property, the Beach Club also features the massive Stormalong Bay swimming pool!
National Treasure Released (2004)
On this day in 2004, Walt Disney Pictures released National Treasure.
The film stars Nicholas Cage as Benjamin Gates who is a treasure hunter and historian searching for a massive treasure hidden by the American Founding Fathers.
Also starring in the film are Jon Voight, Justin Bartha and Diane Kruger.
Frozen Premiers (2013)
On this day in 2013, Frozen premiered at the El Captain Thatre in Hollywood.
In order to celebrate the Disney’s newest animated film, snow fell down Hollywood Boulevard! The exterior of the theater was also decorated with snow banks and ice sculptures to set the mood.
Frozen tells the story of Princesses Anna, who joins forces with mountaineer Kristoff, to save her kingdom from a perpetual winter. Along their journey, the duo must find Anna’s Sister, Elsa to break her icy spell.
