Disney Unveils 5 Artifacts for Upcoming Franklin Institute Exhibit
Disney revealed five of the artifacts that will appear in the upcoming Disney100 exhibit today, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come!
Created for the 100-year celebration of the Walt Disney Company, the Franklin Institute will be hosting a world premiere exhibition featuring ten themed galleries, special behind the scenes footage, and treasures from the Disney archives.
For those of you may not know, the Franklin Institute is a museum and center of science education and research in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
The Disney 100 exhibition will be a can’t miss look at the company’s history and will attraction thousands of Disney fans. Today, Disney revealed some of the artifacts that will be displayed!
Disneyland Employee Badge #1
First up, we have Disneyland Employee Badge #1 from 1955.
This Disneyland badge was issued to Walt Disney himself. This is undoubtedly an iconic piece of Disney history!
Steamboat Whistle
Next up, we have the Steamboat Whistle that was used in Steamboat Willie.
Steamboat Willie was the first Mickey Mouse cartoon to be released, and also the first cartoon to feature synchronized sound. The short was unlike anything that anyone had ever seen, and it propelled Mickey to stardom.
Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Storybook
The third revealed artifact is a prop storybook that was featured in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.
Released in 1937, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs was Disney’s first foray into animated feature films. The film was massive success at the box office. it also proved there was an audience for full length animated films, which launched the Disney company forward.
Here is a fun fact, when adjusted for inflation, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs is still the highest grossing animated film of all time.
Skywalker Lightsaber Hilt
Fourthly, we have the Skywalker Lightsaber Hilt from Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker.
The iconic weapon of the Jedi was featured in the 2019 film, which was the final entry in the Skywalker Saga.
The Shaggy Dog Magic Ring
Finally, Disney also unveiled that the magic ring from The Shaggy Dog will be on display.
The 1959 film starred Fred MacMurray, Tommy Kirk, Jean Hagen and Annete Funicello. In The Shaggy Dog, a magic ring transforms a teenage boy into a shaggy Old English Sheepdog. Hijinks ensue.
