New Star Wars Short “Zen – Grogu and Dust Bunnies” Now Streaming
For fans of the Mandalorian who can’t wait another three months for more Grogu content, today is your lucky day!
Lucasfilm and Studio Ghibli have teamed up to create a new animated short titled “Zen- Grogu and Dust Bunnies”. The new short is now streaming exclusively on Disney Plus.
This new hand-drawn cartoon teams up Grogu from the Mandalorian series and the coal dust bunnies from Hayao-Miyazaki’s My Neighbor Totoro and Spirited Away.
The new short film is the directorial debut of Katsuya Jonda. Jonda is a veteran animator who has previously worked at as an Studio Ghibli animator and animation director.
Zen- Grogu and Dust Bunnies features the Mandalorian star trying to meditate. Things go wrong however, when a pack of dust bunnies interrupt his concentration. The short was scored by composer Ludwig Goransson, who also scores The Mandalorian.
The new short was heavily teased by Studio Ghibli in a series of tweets. Finally, Disney confirmed the collaboration last Friday.

Studio Ghibli is perhaps best known for their string of hits in the aughts, including Spirited Away (2001), Howl’s Moving Castle (2004) and Ponyo (2008).
While it is not exactly clear how the new collaboration came about, the Star Wars franchise is no stranger to teaming up with outside studios.
For the previously released, “Star Wars: Visions” anthology series, Lucasfilm reached out to various animation studios in Japan, allowing them to create any story involving characters from the Star Wars films.
It will be interesting to see if future collaborations between Studio Ghibli and Disney take place. But for now, we can all enjoy Zen- Grogu and Dust Bunnies, streaming exclusively on Disney Plus!
