World Discovery Suffers Slow Start Today; Two Major Attractions Down
As Walt Disney World prepares for yet another major storm to come ashore this week, EPCOT appears to be having a few unrelated challenges of its own. Two of the parks most popular attractions, Test Track and Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, both suffered closures late this morning.
With Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind still in its grand opening phase, the closure disappointed many who chose to wait out the temporary hault near the attraction. Since its opening, Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind can only be accessed via virtual queue or through Individual Lightning Lane purchase.
Three cast members and three guests confirmed today’s glitch. For many, the question now remains: when will their boarding group be called? Both the 7 a.m. and 1 p.m. virtual queue windows tend to fill up in seconds for the day. Individual Lightning Lane purchases tend to remain availabile slightly longer.
The impact of the closures reverberated throughout a very crowded EPCOT quickly. With high crowds already today, the uptick in mid-week EPCOT visitors can be largely attributed runDisney Wine & Dine Half Marathon participants and those on a fall break this week.
Wait times for all attractions were already on the high side. Even attractions with dependably short lines, like The Seas with Nemo & Friends, hit 40 minutes. More popular rides, like Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure, Soarin’ Around the World, and Frozen Ever After, all topped 100 minutes when we last checked.
Many visitors hope to get on Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind in the coming weeks not only because of the attraction’s overall awesomeness but also due to a new song choice celebrating the holiday season. Cast members mentioned to our MickeyBlogger today, though, that the additional song has yet to be added to the ride’s soundtrack choices.
