Life Day 2022 Merchandise Arrives at Hollywood Studios
The biggest Wookiee holiday arrives next week with Life Day, an annual celebration of Wookiee culture. Home to Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, Hollywood Studios released a new line of merchandise recently in honor of this year’s festivities.
Not only does the line include a darling plush of the world’s most famous Wookiee, Chewbacca, but two new t-shirts and an exclusive sipper also hit shelves at Keystone Clothiers, a popular retail hub on Hollywood Boulevard.
For the stuffie, Chewbacca dons the red ceremonial robes of the Wookiees and holds a mystical crystal orb meant to commemorate Life Day. The ornaments are often displayed on the Wookiees’ tables during the holiday.
The $26.99 plush captures the importance of the November holiday to the Wookiees, a date that took on more significance after the Wookiees were enslaved by the Empire, according to the Star Wars website.
The Wookiee’s desires for harmony, peace and freedom run throughout this year’s merchandise, especially a deep blue-hued sipper.
Chewie stands prominently on the cup between a collection of Star Wars heroes and heroines, including R2-D2, C-3PO, Princess Leia, Han Solo, and Luke Skywalker.
The sipper marks this year’s Life Day festivities, but the Wookiee holiday actually debuted in 1978 in a Star Wars holiday special that featured Bea Arthur and an athem sung by Princess Leia herself, Carrie Fisher.
The Wookiee’s mantra also features in a star-like font across the back of the sipper. The cup retails for $24.99.
Life Day Tees Capture Spirit of the Wookiees
True to other holidays in during this season, Life Day traditions also feature strung lights, festive decor, and special treats. The details of Life Day celebrations find themselves captured on the tees that debuted for this year’s Life Day.
A very sweet looking Wookiee graces one t-shirt that plays with the day’s ceremonial red shade. We spotted this tee today for $24.99.
Like the sipper, the tee uses a dark navy blue background and playful fonts to share the excitement of the holiday.
The ornaments often used by Wookies during life day provide a focal point for a more trendy style of tee, which uses a lightweight white fabric as its background.
Two Wookiees share the spirit of family and togetherness in the tee, which even states that the pair are “celebrating together.”
This tee retails for $36.99 and provides a super sentimental choice to mark this year’s special day.
