BREAKING NEWS: Shanghai Disney Shuts Down Due to COVID-19
Reports are coming in the Shanghai Disney Resort was forced to close today (Monday, October 31st) to comply with COVID-19 prevention measures in China. According to a recent piece on CNN, all visitors were advised to stay in the park until they return a negative test for the virus.
Just before noon, Disney officials said that they would be shutting down the main theme park and shopping district until further notice.
According to government officials, Shanghai Disney is currently barring guests for entering or exiting the parks. The government is also mandating that anyone that visited Shanghai Disney since October 27th needs to test for COVID-19 three times in three days.
For those locked-in at the parks, Disney continued to operate rides but offerings are limited. Shanghai Disney has also reduced the number of cast members working at the parks to comply with the country’s COVID-19 measures.
Shanghai Disney, continues to be impacted by COVID-19 as a result of more stringent measures being taken to curb the spread of the virus in China. Earlier this year, the resort was closed for three months.
Today’s incident is also reminiscent of last November when the park was forced to close for 2 days and more than 30,000 guests were locked in at the theme park awaiting COVID testing.
