Check Out National Geographic’s Newest Ship – The Islander II
Over the past few months, we here at MickeyBlog (and over at our sister agency MickeyTravels) have been sharing a lot of the exciting details about excursions you can take with National Geographic. This includes incredible tours to places like the Galapagos Islands! To add to the awesomeness of the experience, the company has a brand new ship- The Islander II.
The Islander II is the culmination of National Geographic’s 20 year alliance with Lindblad Expeditions. The 48 passenger expedition vessel sails year round to the islands and features awesome amenities like teak decks that connect the indoor and outdoor spaces.
Other highlights include aboard the Islander II includes a Science Hub, observation deck and indoor-outdoor dining options.
Aboard the ship you’ll also find 26 large and airy suites!
Since one of the selling points of an expedition with National Geographic is the encouragement of active exploration, it makes sense that the Islander II also carries a fleet of kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, a custom-built glass bottom Zodiac and a flotilla of Mark V Zodiacs to provide plenty of opportunities for adventure and exploration!
Young travelers on one of National Geographic’s expedition cruises to Alaska, Antarctica, Baja California or the Galapagos Islands also have the unique opportunity to take part in National Geographics Global Explorers Program. Developed with National Geographic Education, this hands-on interactive program encourages kids to embrace their inner explorer and teaches them how to develop the attitudes, skills and knowledge of an explorer through fun activities.
