It’s a Bustle of Activity as Kona Cafe Preps For Reopening
Our MickeyBloggers are at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort this morning where it is a bustle of activity as Kona Café gets ready for reopening.
This beloved Table Service spot will be reopening after a lengthy refurbishment starting on November 1, 2022.
Overnight, the scrims around the dining location have come down.
Training seemed to be in progress when we popped by this morning.
Cast members were busy prepping the dining room.
This is while work was still being carried out to the walkways around the dining room.
Previously Kona Café had been open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
We LOVE the menu at Kona Café. Highlights included the Tonga Toast, macadamia-pineapple pancakes, Dashi Noodle bowl and sushi!
We have heard murmurings that the chef’s will be updating the menu. We haven’t noticed these changes posted online yet but we’ll keep an eye out and promise to let you know!
The restaurant is looking fabulous with updated décor and enhanced lighting.
Those staying at the Polynesian Village Resort before the new Kona Café reopens next week. should note that the adjacent Kona Island kiosk is still open.
You can pop over to the Island to pick up coffee and pastries in the morning and grab-and-go items like sushi later in the day. You’ll also find sweet treats including key lime pie and banana-rum trifle.
The operating hours on November 1st have been posted on disneyworld.com and My Disney Experience and are as follows:
- Breakfast – 7:30 AM to 11:00 AM
- Lunch – 11:30 AM to 2:00 PM

On occasion, it is possible to get last minute reservations at Kona Cafe. Its definitely worth looking into during your visit if you’re searching for a last minute table service spot.
We’ll continue to follow the progress of the Kona Café reopening.
Join us for a closer look at the beloved restaurant in the days and weeks ahead.
In the meantime here are a few images of the new restaurant interior.
We love the colorful interior with rustic tones that complement the rest of the resort.
The restaurant looks modernized while still keeping with the Mid-Century Modern aesthetics that the Polynesian Village Resort is known for.
Here’s a video we took of the eatery:
