Could Disney Be Opening a New Park In Sri Lanka?
If you’re a Disney fan, you’ll know that the company has theme parks around the globe from the Walt Disney World Resort to Hong Kong Disney, Disneyland Paris, Shanghai Disney and Tokyo Disney. Could the House of Mouse now have its sights set on Sri Lanka?
According to a piece from NDTV, a team from Disneyland will be visiting the island country in November to potentially discuss building a South Asia park in Hambantola which is in the Southern Provence.

We’re told that in the lead in, Diana Gamage, Sri Lankan State Tourism Minister will be visiting the US to discuss the project which would have an estimated costs of $18 billion.
According to the piece in NDTV, Sri Lanka is going through a bit of a tourist revival and will also be playing host to the 7th Annual Miss Tourism World 2022 Pageant. However, the country has also had its fare share of hardships recently due to corruption, budget mismanagement and an agricultural crisis.
For those unfamiliar, Sri Lanka is home to 22 million people. Main citizens are currently in economic turmoil and are struggling to buy essentials like food, medicine and fuel.
This is the first we’ve heard about Disney’s interest in a Southeast Asia resort. However, we will continue to follow the story closely and promise to let you know if/when we here more.
