Orlando International Airport Reaching Pre-Pandemic Numbers
Great news for travel! Orlando International Airport is approaching record- high travel once again and nearing Pre-Pandemic Numbers.
Approximately 44 million travelers are coming through the airport and the numbers are looking to increase. These travel numbers were last seen in early 2019, where the airport saw just over 44 million domestic travelers prior to the pandemic.
This increase in travelers is what created the need for the new Terminal C and is also encouraging additional plans for further expansion to accommodate the increase of travelers.
Terminal C
Terminal C is Orlando’s International Airport’s newest terminal coming in at at $2.8 billion. It is home to multiple international flights and Jet Blue.
Passengers can find the following airlines in the new terminal:
- Aer Lingus
- Azul
- British Airways
- Caribbean Airlines
- Emirates
- GOL
- Icelandair
- Lufthansa
- Norse
- JetBlue
Future Projects for the Airport
The GOAA board voted this past Wednesday to approve and begin work on multiple projects that were cut during the pandemic, including a project to add four more gates to Terminal C.
The projects are expected to begin in October 2022 and complete sometime in 2025. Orlando International Airport is looking into other projects at this time to handle the new travel demand.
Thibault shared, “We will also be bringing back other expansions like the pedestrian bridge that connects right into the train station or the improvements to allow aircraft to remain overnight.”
