Walt Disney World Wait Times for Second Week of October 2022
The holiday season technically doesn’t arrive until Thanksgiving. However, we know from park history that Walt Disney World begins to pick up in mid-October.
Due to this year’s calendar configuration, the change in crowd sizes may have happened this week…or maybe not.
We’ll find out in the latest Walt Disney World wait times.
Disney’s Animal Kingdom
As usual, we’ll start with Avatar Flight of Passage. This attraction anchors Pandora – The World of Avatar.
Since that themed land is far and away the most popular location at Animal Kingdom, Flight of Passage’s wait times are almost always the largest.
Seriously, I think something has beaten it less than 10 times in the three years we’ve been doing this article.
Ergo, you shouldn’t be surprised to hear that Avatar Flight of Passage averaged a 94-minute wait, an increase of nine minutes from last time.
Similarly, Na’vi River Journey is usually second because, well, people love all things Pandora. This ride averaged a wait of 75 minutes, up eight minutes.
Here are the other (non-Avatar) attraction wait times at Animal Kingdom:
- Kilimanjaro Safaris – 55 minutes, no change
- Kali River Rapids – 44 minutes, no change
- Adventurers Outpost – 42 minutes, up 6
- Expedition Everest – 36 minutes, down 3
- DINOSAUR – 33 minutes, up 4
- It’s Tough to Be a Bug! – 15 minutes, up 5
- TriceraTop Spin – 12 minutes, no change
Overall, guests stood in line for an average of 45 minutes for Animal Kingdom attractions. That’s an increase of three minutes from last time.
So, at least this park is slowly creeping upward with its wait times.
Disney’s Hollywood Studios
The park where we’ll notice the creep the most is Hollywood Studios. However, that won’t necessarily happen this week.
Let me check my notes. Okay, Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance increased from 101 to 105 minutes for this week. That’s a modest change of only four minutes. That’s…not bad.
How was the rest of the park? Less…good. Here are the average wait times:
- Slinky Dog Dash – 97 minutes, up 8
- Millennium Falcon: Smugglers – 66 minutes, up 7
- Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway – 62 minutes, up 4
- Rock ‘n’ Roller Coaster Starring Aerosmith – 61 minutes, up 2
- Toy Story Mania! – 60 minutes, up 4
- Twilight Zone Tower of Terror – 57 minutes, up 3
- Red Carpet Dreams – 44 minutes, no change
- Meet Sulley at Walt Disney Presents… — 42 minutes, up 11
- Alien Swirling Saucers – 38 minutes, down 2
- Celebrity Spotlight – 31 minutes, no change
- Star Tours – The Adventures Continue! – 19 minutes, up 6
- Lightning McQueen’s Racing Academy – 15 minutes, up 3
- Muppet*Vision 3D – 10 minutes, no change
Overall, Hollywood stayed stable with a 48-minute wait. That’s an increase of only one minute. However, we did have six attractions with waits of an hour or more.
That’s a large number that hints at worse crowding issues in future weeks.
EPCOT
The calmest park at Walt Disney World still possesses several wildly popular attractions.
Recently, the one with the longest wait has been Remy’s Ratatouille Adventure.
For the past week, guests waited an average of 82 minutes. That’s a substantial increase of 14 minutes from last time.
Is Ratatouille a one-off? Sadly, no. Frozen Ever After averaged a wait of 75 minutes, eight minutes more than last time. So, this park appears more crowded.
Here are the other EPCOT wait times to confirm:
- Test Track – 65 minutes, up 7
- Soarin’ Around the World – 45 minutes, up 1
- Royal Sommerhus – 38 minutes, up 11
- Mission: SPACE – 24 minutes, up 6
- Spaceship Earth – 19 minutes, up 7
- Living with the Land – 18 minutes, up 4
- Journey into Imagination with Figment – 11 minutes, down 5
- Gran Fiesta Tour Starring the Three Caballeros – 10 minutes, no change
- Turtle Talk with Crush – 10 minutes, no change
- The Seas with Nemo & Friends – 8 minutes, down 1
Overall, EPCOT attractions averaged a wait of 32 minutes, which is up three minutes or 10 percent from last time.
Thus far, all three parks we’ve discussed have increased their wait times by a small amount. This should be the gradual trend from now through Halloween.

- Country Bear Jamboree – 5 minutes, no change
- Walt Disney’s Carousel of Progress – 5 minutes, no change
About Magic Kingdom
Okay, so this one’s a bit of a surprise. Whereas Walt Disney World attractions were up overall, the Magic Kingdom ones decreased.
I presume we’re still witnessing some ripple effects from Hurricane Ian messing up the data. Also, there’s a secondary factor here.
Guests must leave early on the nights that host Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party. But that should cause attraction wait times to increase, not decrease.
So, I don’t have a great explanation here, which drives me CRAZY whenever that happens.
What I can tell you is that guests waited an average of 29 minutes, down two minutes from last time.
Anecdotally, MickeyBlog’s reporters had tracked small crowds on some days. For this reason, I really shouldn’t be surprised that it’s the exception this week.
