New Column Wraps for EPCOT’s Fortieth
Today is EPCOT’s 40th anniversary! Yes, 40 years ago today, EPCOT opened its doors to Walt Disney World Guests as the second park at the resort. So, of course, EPCOT is doing special activities and events to mark the occasion. MickeyBlogger Greg headed over to the park this morning as new column wraps welcomed him.
EPCOT’s Opening
So, EPCOT opened at Disney World on October 1, 1982, and the park had a few different rides back then, such as World of Motion and Universe of Energy. However, there are still some similarities from 1982 to 2022, including the pavilions and Spaceship Earth to name a couple.
EPCOT is one of the most beautiful amusement parks in all the world, if not THE MOST beautiful. Of course, it is most recognizable by Spaceship Earth, or as many people call it “the big golf ball.” Therefore, we are very excited to celebrate its fortieth anniversary today!
The New Wraps
As Guests enter EPCOT’s gates this morning, they first see these new, bold wraps around the large columns. The background is dark maroon, and they proudly say, “EPCOT 40.” In my opinion, they greatly match the overall theme of EPCOT, which is large, clean, sharp, and futuristic.
Take a close look at the zero in the number 40 on the wraps. If you notice, it has a little triangular design along the top. Therefore, I believe it’s meant to have a Spaceship Earth nod. As I already mentioned, Spaceship Earth is EPCOT’s iconic structure, so this is a very appropriate choice.
