Disney Donates $1 Million to Non-Profits in Central Florida
Disney made an exciting announcement today about donations it has made to several Central Florida charities. Disney has donated an additional $1 million to 12 local nonprofits! That is for an overall contribution of $5.5 million.
Below is a quick look at the charities that experienced the extra bit of pixie dust this week along with a quick look at their Mission Statements.
- After School All-Stars Mission: Provides comprehensive after-school programs that keep children safe and help them succeed in school and life.
- A Gift for Teaching Mission: Provide educational resources that empower teachers to inspire future leaders.
- Best Buddies International Mission: Establish a global volunteer movement that creates opportunities for one-to-one friendship, integrated employment, leadership development and inclusive living for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
- Central Florida Community Arts Mission: Serve and build community through the arts.
- Children’s Home Society Mission: Build bridges to success for children
- Christian Service Center Mission: Eradicate poverty through the provision of services and resources that foster hope, well-being and empowerment.
- Downtown Arts District Mission- Lead, stimulate and guide the development of a vibrant, innovative arts and culture district that enhances economic development in Downtown Orlando.
- Elevate Orlando Mission: Build long-term life-changing relationships with urban youth, equipping them to thrive and contribute to their community.
- Foundation for Foster Children Mission – Create meaningful connections for children in foster care through personalized support.
- Indignity Mission- Restore dignity and hope by assisting individuals in regaining legal proof of their identity.
- Orlando Science Center Mission – Inspire science learning for life.
- Pace Center for Girls Mission: Provide girls and young women an opportunity for a better future through education, counseling, training and advocacy.

But that’s not all of the awesome news. Disney recently reached an incredible milestone with their VoluntEARS program. Cast members have dedicated more than 158,000 hours of their time on commmunity projects since the start of the 50th Celebration.
These are just two of the many ways that Disney is giving back. Others include earmarking 80 acres of land for affordable housing, inviting students to Walt Disney World for one-of-a-kind learning opportunities and giving community members a chance to visit Disney World’s newest experiences like Star Wars: Galactic Starcruiser.
