Celebrate Halloween at Downtown Disney With Scavenger Hunts, Shopping, Treats, Entertainment and More!
This is Halloween, This is Halloween…and I can’t think of a better way to celebrate the spooky season then by stopping by Downtown Disney and Disneyland Resort where they are pulling out all of the stops. There’s a seasonal scavenger hunt, more eats and treats than you could possibly imagine, some spooktacular entertainment and of course…shopping.
Here are a handful of ways that you can celebrate the season during your next Disneyland visit!
Pluto’s Pumpkin Pursuit Returns
Guests to Downtown Disney can once again hunt for pumpkins around Disneyland’s shopping, dining and entertainment district. Pop into World of Disney or the Disneyland Resort Hotel gift shop to pick up your map and sticker set. Then set off on an adventure to uncover 13 hand-painted pumpkins hidden throughout the area. Best of all, each is inspired by a different Disney character!
Be Scarenaded
Don’t miss the spine-tingling tunes of the aptly named SCAREolers, Disneyland’s very own frightfully fun a cappella group. You’ll want to sing along to Halloween tunes including “I Put a Spell on You.”
Performances will take place Friday – Sunday Evenings from September 30 – October 31, 2022. You may also bump into them on select afternoons in October at Disneyland Hotel, Paradise Pier Hotel and Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa.

Put Yourself in the Middle of Some Hocus Pocus
If you’re lucky enough to be visiting Downtown Disney District between September 20 – October 31, 2022, be on the lookout for a special photo opportunity celebrating the upcoming Disney+ Original movie, Hocus Pocus 2 which starts streaming on September 30th. The phot op will be located between Splitsville and Tortilla Jo’s!
Love at First Bite
You’ll definitely want to bring your appetites if visiting Downtown Disney this fall as there are special Halloween treats around every corner! Black Tap Craft Burgers & Shakes, La Brea Bakery Cafe, Ballast Point Brewing Co., Naples Ristorante e Bar, Marceline’s Confectionery, Kayla’s Cake, Sprinkles, Jamba, and Salt & Straw are just a few of the many restaurants and snack stops to get your Halloween goodies fix.
At the Hotels, we also recommend a visit to GCH Holiday Cart, Hearthstone Lounge, GCH Craftsman Grill and the Coffee House to see what holiday goodies await!

Ogle over this Oogie Boogie-Inspired Culinary Masterpiece
Pop over to the Lobby at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel & Spa to check out the giant confectionary creation on display. Inspired by Tim Burton’s The Nightmare Before Christmas, you won’t believe how many ingredients went into bringing this baddie to life.
Check it out:
- 160 pounds of powdered sugar
- 180 eggs
- 110 pounds of rice cereal
- 95 pounds of marshmallow
- 80 pounds of butter
- 120 pounds of dark chocolate
- 80 pounds of white chocolate
- 480 pounds of fondant
- 370 hours of planning and hands-on work
- 13 hidden Mickeys!
Shop Until You Drop
Be sure to bring some spending money because you’ll find a wide array of awesome Halloween items at Downtown Disney this season. This includes everything from boo-tiful home decor and eerie-sistable apparel to new collections at World of Disney, Disney Home, The Disney Dress Shop, Pandora Jewelry, Lovepop and other specialty shops throughout the district!
Special Activities For Disneyland Hotel Guests
Guests staying at one of Disneyland’s three onsite resorts will get to watch a professional pumpkin carver create works of art on real pumpkins right in front of your very eyes. Be on the lookout the last week in October!
Overnight guests at the Hotels of Disneyland Resort can also enjoy exclusive, complimentary trick-or-treating from October 28 – 31, 2022. Each hotel will have a map of treat locations and you can visit all three hotels. Guests are encouraged to sign up at any Disneyland Resort Hotel front desk.
On Halloween night (October 31, 2022) there will also be a costume contest and movie night on the Adventure Lawn at the Disneyland Hotel.
Readers are encouraged to keep following along with MickeyBlog for further Walt Disney World news and updates. We’ll be coming to you LIVE! from the theme parks each and every week.
