Detroit Youth Choir D23 Performance Inspires
During the 2022 D23 Expo on Saturday night, the Detroit Youth Choir took to the stage for a riveting performance during the “Disney’s Epic Entertainment Showcase: The Musical: The Extravaganza” presentation. With a new show titled “Choir” coming to Disney+, their energy-packed performance proved why they stand as the penultimate children’s vocal ensemble.
“Been working my whole life, and now, it’s do or die … I am invincible, unbreakable, unstoppable, unshakeable,” the group strongly proclaimed during their performance of Carrie Underwood’s “The Champion.”
With harmonies layering and voices booming through the performance hall, the group transitioned into Imagine Dragon’s “Believer” and then Panic! At the Disco’s “High Hopes” in their medley. The performance concluded with their power-packed version of Macklemore’s “Can’t Hold Us.”
The upcoming Disney+ documentary, “Choir,” tells the story of the inspiring Detroit Youth Choir, who first skyrocketed to fame thanks to “America’s Got Talent.” Inspired by Anthony White, the DYC artistic director, Blumhouse Television leads the six-episode, unscripted project.
According to a D23 release, White’s importance “as a teacher, mentor, and father figure in the heart of Detroit” influenced the show’s creators due to his incredible impact on Detroit youth of the past 20 years.
We cannot wait to see more from this talented group when the series drops on Disney+ in the near future.
