ICYMI: All the Upcoming Lucasfilm Projects Announced During D23 Expo
This weekend has been HUGE when it comes to news about the projects in the Lucasfilm pipeline. From the return of some of your favorite Star Wars characters to a couple of incredible series in development there’s never been a better time to be a Lucasfilm fan!
As a matter of fact, there were so many announcements made at the D23 Expo this week that we thought a recap was in order. Let’s dive in!
Andor
D23 Attendees were treated to a special in-room recap video and chat about the series Andor. Star Diego Luna was on hand to reveal the new trailer for the much-anticipated show which you can check out above.
The premiere date is just around the corner (September 21) on Disney+ with the first three episodes premiering at that time.
Willow
One of the projects I’m most excited about is the series Willow. The cast was on hand including Warwick Davis to discuss the Disney+ series and give us a few incredible reveals like the official trailer above!
In addition, The official poster was also revealed but the biggest news of the night was an appearance by Christian Slater who announced that he’ll be part of the series cast!
Star Wars: The Bad Batch
Get ready for the return of Clone Force 99. Executive producer Dave Filoni confirmed the second season of the animated series is on its way and slated for a January 4, 2023 two -episode debut!
Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi
For those unfamiliar, Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi is a six-part animated short series coming to Disney+. The series is scheduled to premiere on October 26, 2022 and the first trailer was unveiled which you can check out above. The series will feature a young Ahsoka Tano, early Qui-Gon Jinn and more!
Ahsoka
Both Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau were in attendance at D23 this weekend to share details about Ahsoka, the upcoming Disney+ series with Rosario Dawson in the title role as the wandering former Jedi. The project is slated to debut at some point next year.
Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
One of the big things that got tongues wagging at D23 was Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. The series will center around a group of children lost in space and is set in the timeframe of the New Republic. Created by Jon Watts and Chris Ford, the show will star Jude Law. The actor even made an appearance onstage to the utter delight of the D23 audience.
The Mandalorian
The series that started it all will be back for Season 3! Creator Jon Favreau, executive producer Dave Filoni and star Pedro Pascal were in attendance at D23 to talk about Madalorian. They also premiered a new teaser trailer for the season which will arrive on Disney+ at some point next year.
Indiana Jones
Last, but certainly not least, the 5th Indiana Jones film will arrive in theaters on June 30, 2023. Director James Mangold took to the stage along with stars Harrison Ford and Phoebe Waller-Bridge to debut an (in room only) sizzle reel for the film.
