Disney Cruise Line Reveals New Details on its Newest Private Island, Lighthouse Point
While we are going to have to wait a little longer for its debut, progress continues on Disney Cruise Line’s newest private island destination, Lighthouse Point.
During today’s D23 Expo presentation, Josh D’Amaro gave us a quick update on the progress being made on the private island. He said Lighthouse is inspired by the stories of the Bahamas and once complete, it will “bring the natural beauty and rich culture of the Bahamas to life for Disney Cruise Line guests.”
An opening date for Lighthouse Point was not announced during today’s panel.
But, the Lighthouse Point progress update wasn’t the only Disney Cruise Line news announced at today’s Parks and Destinations Panel during the D23 Expo. We also learned that Disney Cruise Line’s newest ship will be called the Disney Treasure! It will take its inaugural voyage in 2024.
And, in just as exciting news, the Disney Wonder will be offering limited time sailings to Australia and New Zealand beginning as early as October 2023! One of these sailings will also include a repositioning cruise through the South Pacific that will offer stops in exotic destinations like Samoa and Fiji. Wow!
While we wait on cruises to sail to Lighthouse Point, don’t forget that most sailings that depart from Port Canaveral, Florida or Miami, Florida include a stop at Disney’s first private island oasis, Disney’s Castaway Cay. These includes cruises on the Disney Dream, Disney Fantasy, and Disney’s newest ship, the Disney Wish.
