The first of its kind, “Werewolf by Night” gives Marvel Studios a chance to present their first streaming “special presentation.” Starring Gale Garcia Bernal (“Y Tu Mama Tambien”) and Laura Donnelly (“Merlin”), the show takes brave viewers on a mysterious quest with Jack Russell (Bernal) as he attempts to protect his family.

According to the story, Russell recently suffered the misfortune of transforming into a werewolf once the sun sets. Donnelly’s Elsa Bloodstone, a vampire hunter, appears to play a major role in the dramatic narrative.

Among the ensemble cast, Tony Award-winner Harriet Sansom Harris (“Frasier”), Eugenie Bondurant (“Interview with the Vampire”), and newcomer Jaycob Maya also play key roles in the horrifying plot.
“Werewolf by Night” Story Debuted Decades Ago
Though new to the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Bloodstone joined the Marvel family in 2001 comic series that followed her as a monster hunter. She follows in the footsteps of her father, Ulysses Bloodstone.

“Werewolf by Night” will be the first “special presentation” made by Marvel Studios for Disney+. It introduces MCU fans to a storyline first written in 1954 under the Atlas Comics label.

In this intense, throwback thriller, “Werewolf by Night” may reveal more about the Darkhold, the book that featured prominently in “WandaVision” and “Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness,” if the story pulls from the original tale.

Famous for paving the road for the horror film genre, “Werewolf by Night” uses an abundance of 1930’s horror film details: orchestrations, visual effects, lighting, gory details and black-and-white cinematography. In his directorial debut for the Marvel Cinematic Universe, composer Michael Giacchino plants himself firmly as a key player in the creation of memorable MCU productions with “Werewolf by Night” too.
“Werewolf by Night” premieres on Disney+ on October 7th just in time for Halloween festivities.
