The First Trailer for the National Treasure TV Series is Here!
Another big announcement from the D23 Expo, still going down in Anaheim!
The National Treasure movie franchise is coming to the small screen in “National Treasure: Edge of History”. We’ve known it was coming since March 2021 but no premiere date was announced….until tonight!
The small-screen adaptation will premiere on December 14 with a special 2-episode debut.
Series star Catherine Zeta-Jones lead the cast on stage to make the announcement.
But the opening date wasn’t all. The cast introduced us to a new full-length trailer for the series!
The new trailer opens with the voice of Harvey Keitel, reprising his role as relentless detective Peter Sadusky. Sadusky appears in more of a professor role now and finds himself back down the treasure hunting rabbit hole when young Jess, played by newcomer Lisette Olivera, approaches him for answers about her family’s past.

Sadusky introduces Jess to the idea that her necklace, once her father’s may not be what she thinks it is. In National Treasure fashion, this unleashes clues to a mystery that unfolds for our young heroine and her treasure hunting friends as they race to save a lost treasure.

Also on the hunt for treasure: Billie, played by Zeta-Jones, a billionaire antiquities dealer who doesn’t like to play by the rules. Billie is certain to be hot on Jess’s heels as they uncover the story behind this mysterious Pan-American relic – and who Jess’s father really was.

National Treasure fans will see a few easter eggs in the trailer. Starting with Jess’s mention of “Ben”, a nod to Nicholas Cage’s original character.

You also might spot the “Ben Franklin glasses”, a set of primitive bifocals invented by Ben Franklin and featured in the original movie.

The final surprise for the National Treasure purists…Riley! Justin Bartha reprises his role as the loveable, if somewhat dopey, Riley Poole at the end of the trailer.

“National Treasure: Edge of History” is executive produced by the original film’s producer Jerry Bruckheimer and debuts exclusively on Disney+ in December!
