All the Big Announcements from Disney & Pixar During Yesterday’s D23 Events
Boy oh boy! I don’t know about you all but after the numerous announcements made during yesterday’s big reveal at D23, I need a re-cap to keep it all straight. Below you’ll find all of yesterdays announcements as they pertain to Disney and Pixar movies and shows coming your way. There’s some that we already knew about and are excited about and others that may come as a complete surprise.

Hocus Pocus 2 – September 30, 2022 – Disney+
During yesterday’s panel discussion, Sean Bailey, president of Walt Disney Studios Motion Picture Production, introduced the Sanderson Sisters – Disney Legend Bette Midler, Kathy Najimy, and Sarah Jessica Parker—via video so that they could take us through the official trailer for the film which will be coming out on Disney+ on September 30th!

The action of the sequel takes place 29 years after the Sanderson Sisters (from the 17th century) were resurrected. They’re back and they’re still looking for – REVENGE. Now its up to a new trio of high school students to help thwart the plans of the ravenous witches.
The Disney+ Original Movie also stars Sam Richardson, Doug Jones, Hannah Waddingham, Whitney Peak, Belissa Escobedo, Lilia Buckingham, Froy Gutierrez, and Tony Hale. The film is produced by Lynn Harris, with Ralph Winter, David Kirschner, and Adam Shankman serving as executive producers. Hocus Pocus 2 premieres Friday, September 30, exclusively on Disney+.
Disenchanted – November, 24, 2022 – Disney+
In case you missed it, last night, Amy Adams along with the newly inducted Disney Legends Patrick Dempsey and Idina Menzel to to the stage to give D23 attendees a first look of the new trailer for Disenchanted. They were joined by Maya Rudolph, James Marsden and Gabriella Baldacchino.

Disenchanted takes place 15 years after the original and Giselle (Adams) and Robert (Dempsey) are now a married couple but Giselle has grown a bit disillusioned with her life in the big city. The couple pick up house and move the family to a suburban town known as Monroeville. However, the move to the suburbs doesn’t provide them with the fairy tale life they had hoped for! There’s a whole new set of problems in the form of queen bee Malvina Monroe (Maya Rudolph) who makes Giselle feel even more out of place than she did in the city. In searching for a solution to her family’s woes, Giselle turns to magic. But, when a spell goes haywire, the town is transformed into a fairy tale world. Now its up to Giselle to come up with a solution and restore her family’s happiness!
Peter Pan & Wendy- TBD 2023 – Disney+
See the iconic characters from Neverland in a whole new way! During yesterday’s Peter and Wendy reveal Alexander Molony (Peter Pan), Ever Anderson (Wendy), Alyssa Wapanâtahk (Tiger Lily), and Captain Hook himself: Jude Law turned up to discuss the project!
Coming out at some point next year, we’re told that the film will dive deeper into Wendy’s story as she links up with the boy who refuses to grow up. Together they journey to Neverland where the history of Peter Pan’s rivalry with Captain Hook is uncovered. Directed by David Lowery and produced by Jim Whitaker, the live-action reimagining of the 1953 animated classic begins streaming on Disney+ in 2023.

Haunted Mansion- 2023
One of the highlights of yesterday’s D23 Expo was Jamie Lee Curtis arriving on stage to promote live-action film Haunted Mansion in a doom buggy! Inspired by the classic theme park attraction, Haunted Mansion is about a woman and her son who enlist a crew of spiritual experts to help rid their home of some grim grinning ghosts.
We can reveal that Jamie Lee Curtis will be taking on the role of Madame Leota in the film.
MUFASA: The Lion King- 2024
MUFASA: The Lion King, is a prequel to the beloved film The Lion King. Director Barry Jenkins was on hand to share a sneak peek and reveal a few details about the film which is in production as we speak. We know that the story will be told in flashbacks form Rafiki, Timon and Pumbaa and will tell the story of Mufasa as a young lion cub and his meteoric rise to one of the greatest kings the Pride Lands had ever seen.
Snow White- 2024
Yesterday D23 attendees were treated to an appearance from both Rachel Zegler, who will playing snow white in the upcoming live-action Snow White, and Gal Godot who will be the The Queen. During their chat yesterday the two actresses talked about their roles and shared an early glimpse of the iconic characters from the 2024 film. which is being directed by Marc Webb produced by Marc Platt, and features new songs by Tony®-, Grammy®- and Oscar®-winning songwriters Pasek and Paul.
The Little Mermaid- May 2023
We are flipping our fins over the first chance to see Hailie Bailey as the new Ariel in this upcoming live-action adaptation of the belov4ed animated classic. The project is being directed by Rob Marshall who shared a sneak peek of the Part of Your World sequence from the film. Later Marshall was joined by Bailey who spoke about how it felt to take on such an iconic role!
PIXAR
Elemental- June 16, 2023
First up for Pixar is an excited new project from filmmakers Peter Sohn and Denise Ream. They took to the stage at D23 discuss this original feature film hitting theaters on June 16, 2023. The film was inspired by the stories of immigrants pursuing their dreams in beautiful neighborhoods where language and cultures come together. The film is set in a city where all of the elements (fire, water, land and air) peacefully co-exist. You’ll meet Ember who is a tough young woman and Wade a go-with-the-flow sort of guy. Two of the stars of the film are Leah Lewis and Mamoudou Athie who both took to the stage to share an exclusive look at the film and to unveil the new mini-poster
Win or Lose – Fall 2023- Disney+
Directed by Carrie Hobson and Michael Yates, Win or Lose is Pixar’s first ever long-form series. The show follows Pickles, a co-ed middle school softball team as they get ready for their championship game. Each episode will take place during the same week and will highlight the perspective of different main characters (player, parents, umpire etc.) We know that Will Forte will be the voice of Coach Dan.
Elio- Spring 2024
Director Adrian Molina took to the stage yesterday along with producer Mary Alice Drumm to reveal, for the first time ever, Elio. This film will tell the story of 11 year-old Elio who is artistic, creative and an avid indoorsman who finds it difficult to fit in. Meanwhile, Mom Olga, runs a top-secret military project and is trying to decode a strange signal from space. But, its Elio who ultimately makes contact and gets beamed into space. He is then mistaken as an intergalactic Ambassador for Earth.
We can confirm that America Ferrera will be the voice of Olga and that Yonas Kibreab, who lends his voice to Elio. Kibreab revealed to the audience that Elio releases Spring 2024.
Inside Out 2- Summer 2024.
Amy Poehler showed up on stage at D23 yesterday to inform the audience that Inside Out 2 is in the works. The project will be directed by Kelsey Mann. It’s early stages for the project but we do know that the film will follow teenager Riley who is feeling all sorts of new emotions as she grows up.
Before Docter could wrap Pixar’s portion of the show, he heard a voice from inside his head. Fortunately, it was actually the voice of Joy, Amy Poehler, who arrived on stage to huge applause—especially when she informed the audience that Inside Out 2 is in the works at Pixar. Zootopia+- November 9, 2022- Disney+
There will be a new short-form series coming to Disney+ beginning on November 9th. You’ll go back into the bustling metropolis of Zootopia delving a bit deeper into the lives of some of the characters that fans of the Oscar-winning feature fell in love with.
Iwájú- 2023 – Disney+
This all new original long-form series has been created in collaboration with Pan-African comic book entertainment company – Kugali. D23 invited filmakers Olufikayo Ziki Adeola, Hamid Ibrahim, and Tolu Olowofoyeku to the stage who introduced the setting of the series. It is a love-letter to Lagos, Nigeria but provides a futuristic depiction of a world bursting color, unique visual elements and technological advancements. Referred to as a coming-of-age story, guests will be introduced to Tola, a young heiress from the wealthy part of town and her best friend Kole who is not of the same socio-economic status.
Strange World- November 23, 2022
Hitting the theaters before the end of the year, Disney Animation’s next feature film Strange World which is about an incredible family who get past their differences to save a strange world full of danger and surprises. The film is being directed by Don Hall and Qui Nguyen serves as co-director and screenwriter. This will be Disney’s 61st feature film and will feature the vocal talents of Jake Gyllenhaal (Searcher Clade), Dennis Quaid (Jaeger Clade), Jaboukie Young-White (Ethan Clade), and Lucy Liu (Callisto Mal) joined the festivities.
Wish
The finale of last night’s presentations, Wish is set to release in the Fall of 2023. The epic animated musical asks “How did the wishing star come to be?” Directors Christ Buck and Fawn Veerasunthorn advised the the film is set in Rosas, a kingdom of wishes where wishes can literally come true. The protagonist is 17 year old Asha who in a moment of desperation makes an impassioned plea to the stars and in doing so creates a little ball of boundless energy known as Star. Together, the duo, face the most formidable foes to save Asha’s community f
