Just 3 Months After Refurbishment, These Expedition Everest Effects are Not Currently Working…
Expedition Everest went down at the beginning of this year to receive a lengthy refurbishment. While fixing the Yeti was not on the list of things to address, fixing some of the smaller effects and smoothing out the track were the goals. Now, after the busiest summer season Walt Disney World has seen in years, some of the effects are already not working.
The first effect that’s currently out-of-commission is the engine’s lifelike steam. Usually, when the train pulls into the load station, the caboose ‘steams’ like a real train. When we rode two times the other day, no steam was present. The steam usually emits from the under-track system pictured below.
When the train pulls into the top of the mountain, passengers immediately see that the Yeti has beaten them there and has destroyed the track meant to carry them back to camp.
There is an automated bird that usually flies out of view as the train pulls in…but the bird is currently motionless. Don’t worry though, all the hair-ties have since reappeared in the scene!
