Will Cruella 2 Be A Musical?
The D23 Expo will take place in just 7 days and rumors abound about upcoming Disney projects as momentum for the “ultimate fan event” builds. Some of the latest rumors center on the sequel of Cruella.

What We Know
Cruella was well received by critics and fans alike. Following its success – both critically and financially – Emma Stone closed a deal to reprise the role of Cruella in August 2021.
We also know that Tony McNamara, who wrote the first movie, is writing the second. This was revealed in a Forbes interview with Paul Walter Hauser, who plays Horace in the first film.

In the interview, Hauser – who will clearly reprise his role – indicated filming would begin in 2023. He said:
“I’m told we’re doing it next year. I don’t know when but I think Tony McNamara is writing the script right now. He’s probably tinkering away with that. We got to work around the ever-busy schedule of Craig Gillespie and Emma Stone, who are worth the wait, so anytime they want to do it, I’ll be there.”
Cruella 2: The Musical?
Cruella was released on May 18, 2021. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the film made its debut in theaters and on Disney+ (via Premier Access). There is some chatter which indicates Cruella 2 may go directly to Disney+.
Moreover, as fans will recall, music was a tremendous part of the first film. Therefore, it should come as no shock to learn that the sequel may be planned as a musical.

This is an intriguing idea! If you have seen La La Land, you know that aside from being a talented actress, Emma Stone has a beautiful singing voice.
Bad Blood?
Finally, none other than Taylor Swift has been rumored to be joining the cast… as a villain! According to TheDisInsider, Swift’s role will be “Cruella’s match.”

Another statement that adds strong suspicion to this notion of Taylor Swift’s role in the film is an item that was published in June by Deumoix. It states: “This A+ singer who has a minor appearance in Cruella (very tiny, you probably haven’t noticed) might have a larger part in the sequel…”
Emma Stone and Taylor Swift joining forces for a musical sequel of Cruella? Sounds like a blockbuster to us!
