Seven Spectacular Reasons to Sail on the Disney Wish
The Disney Wish has finally set sail on a series of luxury cruises. Guests have already repeatedly praised the vessel for its deluxe accommodations.
So, picking the best ones isn’t easy. Still, I can happily give you seven reasons why you should take a trip on the Disney Wish.
The Grand Hall
Disney Cruise Line has long set the standard for breathtaking amenities and features.
Even allowing for that fact, the Disney Wish elevates the atrium concept to unprecedented heights.
Disney hasn’t designed a central area so much as it’s created a centerpiece, a location where guests assemble to admire the splendor.
No matter where you look in the Grand Hall, you’ll discover a visual feast, one that might take your breath away.
For example, the chandelier steals the show as the overhead crown jewel, capable of altering appearance depending on when you visit.
In fact, that’s a running theme in the Grand Hall. Everything screams elegance, from Cinderella to the stage balcony to the glass slipper in the enclosed case.
More importantly, everything in sight embraces the majesty of Disney storytelling.
Historically, cruise guests have used the atrium as a place to talk shop with employees, settling all their customer service issues.
On the Disney Wish, the Grand Hall brings Disney movies to life in technicolor splendor!
You’ll know that you’re experiencing something different when you notice fiber optic lighting effects for the first time!
Pay particular attention to Tinkerbell. There are twinkling lights and a bell sound that plays just for her!
Hyperspace Lounge
Have you ever wanted to get drunk in a galaxy far, far away?
Okay, I’m mostly joking, as I’m a firm believer in drinking in moderation. But the second part is quite true.
Disney has created innovative technology exclusively for Star Wars fans. You’ll find it in only two places thus far: Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge and the Disney Wish.
What does this technology do? Digital displays on the wall simulate space travel. Also, they create/recreate iconic ships and battles from the Star Wars universe.
In other words, you’ll feel like you’re traveling on board a starship in the Star Wars movies while you drink here.
That’s the core conceit of Hyperspace Lounge and the explanation for why it’s always so crowded.
This lounge possesses an intimate setting unlike most of the other places on the Disney Wish.
So, only ~50 Disney guests can drink at a time, making each visit that much more special.
The Oceaneer Club
Okay, kids will be jealous of their parents for getting to drink at the Star Wars bar. However, the reverse is also true.
Adults cannot visit the Oceaneer Club, which is available to kids ages 3-12. Here, they’ll interact with other kids in a series of play areas.
The available activities run the gamut from a Disney Princess enclave called Fairytale Hall to Belle’s Library, a terrific place for introverts.
Other options include drawing at Rapunzel’s Art Studio, interactive games at Anna and Elsa’s Sommerhus, and infotainment at Walt Disney Imagineering Lab.
Kids can even design their own Disney rides here! See, you should be jealous that they get to do this!
Arendelle: A Frozen Dining Adventure
Anna and Elsa are royalty. So, Disney has understandably honored them with a restaurant.
For cruise guests, this meal transports you to Arendelle on a most momentous day. The people are celebrating the royal engagement of Anna to Kristoff!
Much singing and dancing ensues. Notably, you’ll perform part of it yourself!
You can read more about the experience here. However, the TL: DR is that this meal comes as a fundamental part of a Disney Wish cruise.
Many Disney fans would happily pay a lot of money to catch this show. You’ll get it as a free bonus!
Worlds of Marvel
With every passing generation, Disney has improved its storytelling by a matter of degrees.
Worlds of Marvel and its Avengers: Quantum Encounter dining experience signify a stunning leap forward in what’s possible during a meal.
As with Arendelle, you’ll enjoy a decadent menu of cuisine. Somehow, that’s the lesser part of the restaurant’s appeal, though.
Simultaneously, you’ll watch the Avengers – and I mean the actual actors like Paul Rudd! – battle the latest threat from the supervillain, Ultron.
You should pay attention to this one, as Ultron’s target is…the Disney Wish!
Life doesn’t imitate art so much as the two marry during this meal. You’ll watch a mini-movie that occurs on the very decks you’ve visited that day!
Disney spared no expense with this film, and it’s legitimately one of the best parts of the cruise.
Even as a Marvel fan, I slightly prefer the Arendelle one. That’s probably because I’m an evangelist for the similar EPCOT eatery, Akershus, though.
The AquaMouse
Imagineers have constructed a fully themed attraction for a cruise ship for the first time ever.
Now, I don’t want to overstate this ride, as it’s just your standard cruise ship toboggan in a tube experience.
Still, Disney has added something unique to differentiate the AquaMouse from everything that has come before it.
At the start of the ride, you’ll enter a dark ride filled with digital displays. Each one tells part of the story related to the AquaMouse attraction.
Effectively, you’re watching a series of animated shorts starring Mickey & Minnie Mouse and friends. It’s the appetizer before the entrée of an extremely fun wet ride!
Quiet Cove
Not everyone who takes a Disney cruise is a parent. In fact, the percentage is smaller than you might think.
Also, even the best parents could sometimes use a break to be, you know, adults for a while. I’m not judging here, either.
Sometimes, we all want to get away from the rest of the world. That goes double for couples in search of some alone time.
Thankfully, Quiet Cove functions as that oasis on the Disney Wish. There are no kids allowed here. It’s bliss.
MickeyBlog has already spent a substantial amount of time at Quiet Cove.
When you close your eyes and fantasize about a cruise vacation, it looks just like this.
So, parents can happily drop their kids at Oceaneer Club and head straight to Quiet Cove for hours of peace and tranquility.
That’s the magical combo that will make your Disney Wish cruise a dream come true.
