Now Open! Spam Sushi Shines at Hawai’i Booth!
Greetings from Epcot! MickeyBloggers are back at the World Showcase, where the 2022 International Food and Wine Festival is kicking the heat up a notch.
Although the event began on July 14th, a host of extra marketplace booths have opened their kitchens this week, and we can’t wait to check them out!
The next booth we’re hitting is the Hawai’i stall, which is this sweet hut full of island flavors we can’t wait to sample.
There’s already a queue forming this sunny morning, so let’s go get in line!
Something I especially love about each of the marketplace booths is how they display the year they first joined the festival on their signage.
Looking at this cool teal sign, we can see that the Hawai’i booth was introduced back in 2011 – that’s more than a decade of hot Hawaiian flavors in the World Showcase!
Looking at the menu, we can see some cool and unique treats available to try. Check out the Spam sushi!
There’s the Kalua Pork Slider, served with sweet-and-sour pineapple chutney and spicy mayonnaise, and the SPAM Musubi Nigiri, which we’ll get into in just a minute! Then, for dessert, guests can order the Passion Fruit Cheesecake, topped with toasted macadamia nuts.
On the drinks menu, there’s the Florida Orange Groves Sparkling Pineapple Wine, or the Kona Brewing Co. Hanalei Island IPA for the beer lovers.
Sounding particularly divine is the AULANI Sunrise, a cocktail consisting of vodka, pineapple juice, and grenadine.
That’s a great mix of treats available at this sweet, sunshine-filled stall!
However, the dish we’re ordering today is that SPAM Musubi Nigiri, which is brand-new on the booth’s menu this year.
The Spam sushi came plated up beautifully, and we are very excited to take a bite and see what this unique dish is like!
The musubi nigiri consists of teriyaki-glazed SPAM, sandwiched between sushi rice and wrapped with nori. Spicy mayonnaise and eel sauce complete the dish.
Yum!
The Epcot International Food & Wine Festival is known for its fun fusions of flavors and cuisines, and this SPAM musubi is a fantastic example to try.
If you’re looking to sample this dish on your next trip to this year’s festival, it costs $6 from the Hawai’i booth.
We’re so happy to see that more marketplace booths have opened for the Food & Wine Festival, and our MickeyBlog reporters will be enjoying exploring the rest of the offerings today.
Make sure you stay tuned to MickeyBlog.com to see all the booths available, and get a peek at the new dishes to arrive at the festival this year!
