Pirates of the Caribbean Attraction Down at Park Open in Magic Kingdom
When the rope drops in the morning at the Magic Kingdom, which attraction do you head to first? Maybe you go to enjoy the Tomorrowland thrills of Space Mountain, or rush to the “gem” that is Seven Dwarfs Mine Train.
Or, perhaps it’s pillaging and plundering that’s first on your agenda, and you find yourself heading towards Adventureland for a ride on Pirates of the Caribbean…
If Pirates is your first stop, you wouldn’t be alone. Despite being one of the oldest attractions in the park, Pirates of the Caribbean remains a firm favorite for rope-droppers, with a queue line often reaching long wait times all throughout the day at peak seasons.
So, when MickeyBloggers headed over there this morning to enjoy the ride, we were surprised – and somewhat disappointed – to find it was under unexpected down time.
We aren’t certain of the reason for this – be it for technical difficulties, unscheduled refurbishment, or otherwise – but guests were being turned away from joining the queue and entering El Castillo del Morro.
To make this even more frustrating, this is actually the second day in a row that the attraction has been shut during the park’s opening. Yesterday (Wednesday 3rd,) the ride being closed for opening was also the case.
As you can see from the photos, a friendly line of attraction Cast Members are positioned out the front of the attraction, politely advising guests that they need to come back at a later time to enjoy the ride.
On the Standby Entrance clock, the “Wait Time” sign is showing up blank, emphasising the situation.
We sure hope that this pattern of Pirates being closed won’t continue much longer, and we hope to see guests back to being able to enjoy this flume during rope-drop from tomorrow. However, make sure you stay tuned to MickeyBlog.com for more updates and all the latest information you need about closures, refurbishments, and more!
Although, if you do find yourself having to wait for Pirates to open up again during your next visit, a good place to wait would be the adjacent store, Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar. Only last week, six awesome new Pirates-themed t-shirts arrived onto the shelves there, making it a perfect stop to get yourself some pirate swag as you wait for your ship to set sail once more!
