Capriotada (AKA Chocolate Bread Pudding) SHOCKED Us at Food and Wine Festival
The Food and Wine Festival has been underway for a few weeks now, which has given us time to visit (and re-visit) each and every food booth. The savory food and wine options are by far the most sought-after, but the desserts this year in particular have truly risen in the ranks of Festival treats!
This year, the Capriotada de Chocolate from the Mexico booth (aka chocolate bread pudding), has succeeded in blowing our taste buds out of the water! The dessert was freshly turned out of a warm ramekin and doused- and I mean doused-in a dark Mexican chocolate anglaise.
The little plate was heavier than I imagined it would be when the CM handed it to me over the counter. Judging by both the weight and the warmth penetrating the bottom of the plate, I had high hopes.
Nothing prepared me for the deliciousness that ensued! I cut the dense but oh so soft bread pudding with a fork and found flecks of chocolate throughout. The hefty bread pudding was good on its own, but it’s the warm, rich, very decadent anglaise sauce that puts this dish into our all-time Festival top 10 list! They certainly weren’t shy with the chocolate sauce, and my tastebuds will be eternally grateful.
I can’t wait to get back to the Festival to re-order this absolutely amazing dessert option! Have you tried the capriotada de chocolate? Leave a comment and let us know!
