Actor Paul Sorvino Has Passed Away at the Age of 83
It is with a heavy heart that we here at MickeyBlog share the news that beloved actor Paul Sorvino has passed away at the age of 83. The actor was best known for his role as Paulie Cicero in Martin Scorsese’s GoodFellas.

According to the family, Sorvino passed of natural causes. He passed away at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
In the Disney-sphere, most will know Sorvino for his role as Lips Manlis in Dick Tracy as well as Eddie Valentine in Disney’s The Rocketeer.
During his prolific career Sorvino portrayed many noteworthy roles including James Caan’s bookie in The Gambler (1974), Claire Danes (aka Juliet’s) father in Baz Luhrmann’s Romeo and Juliet (1996), Henry Kissinger in Oliver Stone’s Nixon (1995),founder of the American Communist Party in Warren Beatty’s Reds (1981) and Det. Phil Cerretta on NBC’s Law & Order.
Sorvino was born in April 13, 1939 in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. He is the son of Italian immigrants and got his start in showbiz by singing in Catskills hotels as a teenager. According to a piece in The Hollywood Reporter, Sorvino had aspirations of being an opera singer but asthma prevented him from doing so, he then turned his talents to acting.
He would later go on to found the Sorvino Children’s Asthma Foundation and wrote a book, How to Become a Former Asthmatic.
His last role was as Frank Gostello in TV series Godfather of Harlem.
