Parents TV and Media Council is Furious with Disney+ Again
It comes as no surprise that the Parents Television and Media Council (PTC) is furious with Disney+ yet again. This week Disney+ added R-Rated movies: Deadpool, Deadpool 2 and Logan.
The PTC is a conservative media advocacy group whose mission is to protect children and families from violent, lewd and profanity filled content on media platforms.
This group called for a ban on HBO’s Euphoria and demanded Netflix to rate Stranger Things as TV-MA.

For Marvel fans, adding the Deadpool Movies and Logan was a favored move. Even stars Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman took to their social media platforms to celebrate the decision.

However, the Parents Television and Media Council argues that this move breaks Disney’s 2019 promise of not adding Rated-R movies to Disney+. Adding that Disney offered Hulu for more mature content.

Disney+ is one of the top streaming services worldwide. In order to keep their popular franchises like Marvel and Star Wars on one platform, viewers should expect more adult oriented movies and tv series to follow.

However, what is being overlooked in this situation is how easy parents can add the parental control feature on Disney+. This allows parents to create a 4 digit password to keep TV-MA content off of specific profiles.
Netflix and other streaming services provide the same parental control features.

Did Disney go back on their word? Technically, yes. But I believe that fans will favor having access to the TV-MA content on Disney+ as opposed to having to go elsewhere.
I particularly love having access to the MCU chronological timeline. Except for the lack of Spider-Man movies; however, that is a whole different story for another day.
