If you’ve been following along with Summer 2022 travel news, chances are that you’ve heard about all of the delays and cancellations happening at airports around the world. On the one hand its fantastic and indicates the demand for travel is back. On the other it can really be an inconvenience for passengers getting to an from their holiday destinations.
CNN ran an article today that highlights the airports around the world with the most travel delays. Orlando International Airport (MCO), (the airport that most guests fly into when visiting Walt Disney World) ranked 10th on the list of Top 10 airports in the world for summer delays. It was also the ONLY airport in the United States to make the list.
Topping the list was Toronto Pearson International Airport in Canada where more than half of all of the flights between May 26 and July 19 were delayed according to CNN.
Seven of the airports including in the list are from Europe including Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam and London. In London, Heathrow airport even went so far as to ask airlines to stop selling tickets for outbound summer travel.
Below is a look at all of the airports that made the Top 10 list.
Here are the top 10 world airports for delays this summer with percentages of flights delayed:
1. Toronto Pearson International Airport (Canada): 52.5%
2. Frankfurt Airport (Germany): 45.4%
3. Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport (France): 43.2%
9. Sydney Kingsford Smith Airport (Australia): 34.2%
10. Orlando International Airport (United States): 33.4%
Rankings are from FlightAware data from May 26 to July 19.
