Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will Rocket into Theaters May 2023
Comic-Con’s Hall H was full of exciting Marvel News on Saturday night!
Marvel announced a theater release date of May 5th 2023 for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 will be the 32nd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) and will take place in Phase 5.
The film features stars: Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldaña, Dave Bautista, Vin Diesel, Bradley Cooper, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Elizabeth Debicki, Sean Gunn, Sylvester Stallone, and Will Poulter.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is written and directed by James Gunn.
Gunn and many of the cast were at Hall H last night to discuss the film.
Gunn announced to the audience that this would be the end of the story for the Guardians.
“I’m sorry, some stories have an end. It doesn’t mean everyone dies,” Gunn said to the crowd.
Although we know very little about the film so far, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set to take place after the events in Thor: Love & Thunder.
During the trailer that premiered last night at Comic-Con, we learn that Gamora is working with the Ravagers and does not remember her time with Peter Quill and the Guardians.
The trailer, which features The Flaming Lips, “Do You Realize” also introduces new characters that we will see in Vol. 3.
We get our first look at Will Poulter as Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji as the High Evolutionary.
Gunn also announced that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will explore Rocket’s past and where he came from.
“Rocket has to be the saddest creature in the universe and that’s what this is partly about,” Gunn said.
Chris Pratt, Karen Gillan, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Maria Bakalova and Will Poulter joined James Gunn at Hall H last night.
Many of the cast were quite emotional after viewing the trailer for the first time and preparing to say goodbye to the series. Sean Gunn (who plays Kraglin Obfronteri) said, “The most rewarding part of it all has been working with my brother.”
While we wait for next May to arrive, you can catch ‘I am Groot,’ a series of animated shorts coming to Disney+ on August 10.
