Golden Name Tags Symbolize Rare Disney World Status
During a typical day at Walt Disney World Resort, guests may notice a variety of special symbols and colors used on the name tags of Cast Members. Not only did the resort debut new name tags in honor of the 50th anniversary, but others mark special milestones too.
Of the rare finds, the golden name tags that cast members began sporting in December rank among the most unique and hard to spot. These tags grace the apparel of only about 100 Cast Members who have been given the role of Walt Disney World Ambassadors.
In a tradition that began with Walt Disney himself at Disneyland Resort, Walt Disney World Resort selects two ambassadors each year and has since the Magic Kingdom opened in 1971.
Whether or not the cast members find themselves still employed by the Disney Company, each former ambassador received a golden name tag for their service. Former Disneyland ambassadors also received a golden name tag to commemorate their work as well.
“While I may not get to wear my name tag on my shirt (don’t worry, it’s proudly displayed in my home), I carry the lessons I learned from my time as WDW Ambassador with me throughout my career,” said former ambassador Caitlin Busscher in a recent LinkedIn post.

Ambassador alumni from coast-to-coast gathered in December at the Boardwalk Inn to celebrate their remarkable legacy with the company. There, many received their special trinkets.
