Disney+ Drops Trailer for “I Am Groot’ Orders Up 5 More Episodes
During this weekend’s San Diego Comic-Con Disney+ revealed more exciting details about the I Am Groot series coming to the streaming network including a new trailer!
The animated spinoff will feature the beloved character Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy and the network confirmed during a panel discussion that the series will premiere in August with five shorts and that five additional shorts have also been ordered.

For those unfamiliar, Groot is an extraterrestrial space creature and one of the most endearing Marvel characters. Although highly intelligent, Groot can only utter one phrase, “I am Groot” and is voiced by Vin Diesel in the films.
Only people close to Groot, including Rocket Racoon can really understand what Groot is saying.
According to a recent piece in Variety, I Am Groot will explore Baby Groot’s adventures throughout the galaxy. Away from the Guardians, he meets new characters and finds himself in some precarious situations.
We can confirm that Vin Diesel has returned to voice the title role for the series and that Bradley Cooper will be back as the voice of Rocket Racoon. Variety has said that other Guardians have contributed voiceover work as well.
The animated shorts will follow Groot at different times during his childhood. Take a first look at the series in the trailer below:
I Am Groot is the second animated MCU series to debug on Disney’s streaming network. The first series “What If..” debuted to much fanfare and award nominations. Ryan Little who worked on “What if…” writes the I am Groot series. Kirsten Lepore serves as the director, and executive produces with Kevin Feige, Louis D’Esposito, Victoria Alonso and “Guardians of the Galaxy” director James Gunn.
