Could ‘Doctor Who’ Be Coming to Disney+?
Move over McStuffins. There could potentially be a new doctor in town. According to a piece in Bloomberg, the Walt Disney Company is currently in talks with the BBC (British Broadcasting Co.) about obtaining the streaming rights for the new Doctor Who series.
According to Bloomberg, it is still early days for the negotiations but Disney is looking to potentially air the new season globally on the Disney+ streaming service. The new series would also be broadcast as usual on BBC.

According to insiders, Disney is looking to bulk up the programming on its Disney+ streaming network and one way to do this is by building up the entertainment properties it can offer.
For those unfamiliar the Doctor Who series first appeared on television back in 1963 and follows the time-traveling escapades of a character known as the Doctor. Over a dozen actors have taken on the title role. The previous doctor was actress Jodi Whittaker.
Earlier this year, the BBC announced that that newest Doctor will be Ncuti Gatwa, a Scottish actor that was born in Rwanda. This will make him the first Black person to take on the role.
With a huge cult following, Doctor Who could be a major acquisition for Disney+, this is a story that we will continue to follow closely. We promise to keep you posted.
