All Aboard! Cast Members Get Ready for the Return of the Walt Disney World Railroad
If you’ve been following along with us here at MickeyBlog then you’ve no doubt seen our updates regarding the TRON coaster construction. As part of this massive project in Tomorrowland at the Magic Kingdom, Disney has closed the beloved Walt Disney World Railroad because the TRON construction site overlaps with the train tracks.
For this reason, fans have been unable to climb aboard the vintage steam train for its loop around the outskirts of the Magic Kingdom. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel (pardon our pun) as a tunnel has been built underneath the TRON coaster to accommodate the railroad route as you can see from the photo below.
Though Disney has yet to say when the TRON coaster will officially open, there have been murmurings that the Walt Disney World Railroad could be up and running soon. These seems to be confirmed by a recent post on Walt Disney World Cast and Community this afternoon. Let’s take a look:
The image above shows cast members posing alongside the steam train engine. It also announces that these team members are being TRAINed to work on the Walt Disney World Railroad! A huge congratulations to all of the engineers selected for this awesome role.
The Walt Disney World Railroad definitely has to be one of my favorite classic Disney attractions. Originally built between 1916 and 1928 this vintage narrow-gauge steam train takes a 20 minute scenic route around the outskirts of the Magic Kingdom with stops at three stations: Main Street USA, Frontierland and Fantasyland (Storybook Circus.)
This is a story that we will continue to follow closely here at MickeyBlog and we promise to keep you posted of further news and updates.
