Applications Underway for 2023 Disney Dreamers Academy
Application are now being accepted for the 100 places available for the 2023 Disney Dreamers Academy. This transformative mentorship program at Walt Disney World was created with Black teens and students from underrepresented communities.
The 16th Annual Disney Dreamers Academy will take place from March 23 -26, 2023. Applications will be taken through October and you can apply at www.DisneyDreamersAcademy.com. Those 100 lucky participants will receive an all-expenses paid trip along with a parent or guardian to Walt Disney World for a a combination of inspirational and educational activities as well as lots of time at the theme parks.
The Dreamers Academy is an important part of Disney’s commitment to supporting diverse communities by encouraging the next generation of Black students to think big. Its the perfect opportunity for students to pursue their dreams and make a difference in the lives of others.
“We’re excited to find the next group of Disney Dreamers and welcome them to Walt Disney World Resort for an experience they won’t soon forget,” said Tracey D. Powell, Disney Signature Experiences vice president and Disney Dreamers Academy executive champion. “If there is a teen in your life who has a dream, I would highly encourage them to apply. Taking a first step towards your dream is a hugely powerful moment. And, for those who are selected, the experience can be life changing.”
The Dreamers Academy has been running since 2008 and has welcomed over 1,400 participants from across the country. During this 4-day event students interact with community and business leaders, cast members, celebrities and other special guests. They are also involved in sessions that teach valuable life tools including leadership, effective communication techniques and networking strategies. Students also take part in career workshops covering a variety disciplines. The goal is to introduce Disney Dreamers to diverse career paths within the business, entertainment and sciences. This also includes opportunities within The Walt Disney Company.
Previous dreamers have gone on to be doctors, nurses, engineers, pilots, journalists and more.
